Hood Graduated London Central St Martins 2005 Masters Degree Fine Art – Jackson Pollock - He is my inspiration also - The way he made the marks on the canvas, throwing the paint - The colours so vivid - Pollock he is my inspiration for sure - I hope the viewer will think that the artist (me) draws a fine divide between existentialism of freedom of choice and the juxtaposed concept of light against texture - The medium I choose is cellulose & acrylic paint on canvas - One can only get the softness and gradiations between colours through these mediums - and on a superb heavy duty cotton canvas it is of the highest quality - The texture of the canvas grips the paint and makes the painting more interesting with great depth
Biography details 2000 to 2001 Studies at Camberwell College of Arts, London, MA Fine Art Printmaking. 2003 to 2005 Studies at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, London, MA Fine Art Painting. Hood is a figurative painter influence and inspired by the Fauvist artist in art history. Coming from the French word fauve, meaning 'wild animals,' Fauvism rejected traditional painting ideals and emphasized modern concepts. Inspired by the late impressionist works of Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh who pushed the boundaries with their bold colour choices, Hood takes this idea a step further to include simplified design.
